XBox E74 error: There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first.
In order to find out what exactly is causing the error on your XBox 360 you will have to obtain the secondary hidden error code. With the error code you can then find a more specific solution to fix your broken or freezing XBox 360.
If you follow the steps below you will obtain four digits from the ring. Interpret the flashing lights as follows to obtain the digits:
* Four lights flashing - 0
* One light flashing- 1
* Two lights flashing - 2
* Three lights flashing - 3
You can obtain the error code by performing the following steps:
1. Turn on your XBox 360 and wait until 3 red lights are flashing.
2. Push and hold the (small white/small black) synchronization button, and WHILE holding this also push the eject button.
3. The three red lights will now start blinking the first digit of your error code.
4. Let go of the eject button and push it again, the 3 red lights will now start blinking the second digit of your error code.
5. Repeat step 4 twice more to obtain the THIRD and FOURTH digits of your error code.
6. Again let go of the eject button and push it, the three red lights should light up again.
